TTruckie | Posted - 06 Jun 2018 : 21:13:14 91mm Pinto pistons are an easy swap if having the block bore anyway. They are low skirt to fit the 1700 crank throw and also hi-Comp.
Easy to get hold of from Burtons etc |

rogerblount | Posted - 05 Jun 2018 : 09:01:01 Just meausured them and I think they are low compression |
melle | Posted - 04 Jun 2018 : 22:04:05 +.75 is overbore size. From memory: LC pistons are 39.5mm from the centre of the gudgeon pin, HC pistons 41mm.

rogerblount | Posted - 04 Jun 2018 : 21:04:59 How do you tell if they are Hc or luc I can send you a picture if you want as I can't put pictures on the site |
beardydave | Posted - 04 Jun 2018 : 18:52:31 So the standard bore is 90mm, but to account for manufacturing tolerances pistons are made in a range of sizes and matched to the bore of the engine. This also gives allowances for reboring.
+0.75 sounds like a bit much for a production tolerance, so these are probably a set for a rebore. Sounds like a good opportunity for some engine fettling.
Are these HC or LC pistons? Been looking for a set of HC pistons and rods for Dusty to go with my 1700 crank. Thinking Pinto pistons would do nicely, possibly with a stage 2 works overbore to 1815cc. |
