Why did I ask? Just so that if I got a different steering wheel to machine for a hub I wouldn't mess up.

I have experience of two types of column shaft, though the parts book lists three:-
7352966 V4s upto 507.018,96 & 62059,95
7341464 V4s US same above nos.
7341464 All Markets 96520001-, 95065001-
7352602 V4s RHD 96520001-, 95065001-
the last entry equates to 1968 model year, my 68 V4 Deluxe was 9653...
but due to type of steering wheel used had the top inch of the inner bore tapped with thread for the horn centre piece. 1969/70 onwards the inner wasn't threaded.
I am unaware whether the splines were different between first and others. Certainly latter two splines were same.

Thinking about it the column has inner splines at the lower end where it attaches to the steering rack. I have both 2.4 and 2.7 racks which are compatible with the RHD steering tube.
I should ask what prompted your question?
