Hello,

I will be lifting the engine out of my 96 on Wednesday. With everything stripped away, I noted a rigid tensioned vertical wire on the RH side that takes a 90 degree turn and goes through a hole in the g/box upper casing.

The end of it is slightly angled and overlaps the block by a couple of inches. It will need to be moved out of the way, but I wanted to check what it is ??

The other end appears to go under the g/box.

Thank you in advance.

Richard.

Hello,

Forgot to ask this:

As the engine is coming out only - does the steady bar need to be detached from the g/box when the engine is raised a couple of inches OR is there sufficient play in the g/box steady bar to allow for such movement ??

Many thanks.

Richard.

No need to remove it, it locates and tensions the release bearing arm.
