v4admin | Posted - 11 Aug 2019 : 17:25:48 Hi all
long standing issue with my horn not working, I have traced it to the steering column shaft not being earthed so hence when hitting the horn button the earth cant be passed back and hence no horn. If I use a piece of wire connected to earth and touch it on the shaft the horn then works as it should. Weird!
Any words of advice from anyone on this? |

chris steeden | Posted - 16 Aug 2019 : 14:31:20 Any chance of threading another wire down the spindle shaft and out of the bottom for the earth and then leave a bit of play wrapped around for steering wheel turning just like the horn earth feed? |
v4admin | Posted - 16 Aug 2019 : 09:33:13 Had a bit of time to have a good look and the shaft looses the earth after the fibre coupling at the bottom of the shaft near the pedals. I guess the rivets that go through have corroded hence the issue. Best alternative I can see is to somehow attach a wire that links across this coupling - heath robinson here I come! |
v4admin | Posted - 13 Aug 2019 : 07:16:20 I think this is what I need to do as well to get earth to the top of the column |
ianh | Posted - 12 Aug 2019 : 20:26:57 I bodged my earth by clamping a wire on the steering column above and below the fibre connector. I will check out the multi-plug tomorrow.

Woody | Posted - 12 Aug 2019 : 17:31:47 The earth wire for the horn goes through the multi-plug at the back of the column. I have had this connection fail in the past. |
