ianh | Posted - 28 Aug 2013 : 19:48:58 Hi, does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the plastic trim covering the B Pillar. My trim is broken in several places and covered in overspray so it has to go. Thanks in advance. Ian |

Derek | Posted - 29 Aug 2013 : 15:02:02 This vinyl is very thin with virtually no backing. Basically you have to cut it to shape as it curves. With the tape on the B post and the vinyl a bit oversize you cut round the edge with the sharpest modelling knife/scalpel that you find. The sharper it is the less likely it is you'll cut into the paint too much even if that sounds illogical. I didn't make too many mistakes and didn't have to redo either of them. A short steel rule help keep the edges straight. How it's surviving I don't know, maybe Saabo-John out in Oz can give us an update. The whole car spent several weeks in a container in Singapore at temps touching 50º so that's one test it's had!

ianh | Posted - 29 Aug 2013 : 14:22:04 I knew I couldn't be the only having trouble with broken trim. Derek, your vinyl looks excellent, but how did you get on further up the pillar where it bends slightly? I think I will try the Woody method first. I think headlining is a little thinner and more stretchable than vinyl. |
Derek | Posted - 29 Aug 2013 : 13:55:58 I bought a bit of vinyl from Martrim at Beaulieu (2 weeks time) fitted with double sided tape. Not perfect but quite a good pattern match. Colour is a bit pale. I think I have enough left for another car, if I can find it. Guess that means that someone not to far away will be in touch.......

ianh | Posted - 28 Aug 2013 : 22:13:10 Hi Woody, yes the door pillar. Your method seems the best way to go, it looks good too. |
Woody | Posted - 28 Aug 2013 : 21:55:46 Do you mean the door pillar? I used spare headlining material to cover it.
