Hey All,

Well, we are moving house in less than two weeks and the 96 is still up on axle stands so what do we need...? Another project!



Travelled up to just North of Bristol today to pick this beauty up. First time she's been outside for 20 years! The seller was a super nice guy and we met at his Dad's place where the car was stored to generally mess about with Tractors and look at loads of cool machinery like pre war commercials, a Series 1 Landrover, 50s Fords etc...

Got the 95 loaded up on the trailer and headed back South.





There is a tarp over the screen as it was only loosely placed in and we wanted to keep the inside of the car dry. As it happened the tarp blew off as soon as I hit motorway speeds so I stopped and put a ratchet strap round it.

The reason for the screen being out is that the bottom corners need a bit of work. Not too bad but the screen has leaked leading to the foot wells rotting. A quick inspection tells me other than this though this car is solid! The only previous welding is on one of the front inner wing leading edges and it's been done well. The second bit is where the sellers Dad has sorted one of the footwells and he's done a pretty good job by the looks of it.



Engine bay, something missing there... I'll be heading up in a few weeks for trip #3 (you'll see) to collect the engine and box plus the rest of the bits off the car. The engine has done 1000 miles ish since a complete rebuild and has been stored indoors.



And finally, in it's new temporary home at work. This will be home for a couple of months until the house move is organised and I have a new space for tinkering sorted. The wings are in the back with the front panel and are like new - literally! The car has been sprayed but well - what's the name of the colour?

This one has jumped to the top of projects because I have been editing the posts to remove Photobucket and switch over to Flickr.

There has been a bit of project progress too but I haven't got any pictures of that so here is one from Swedish Day instead!

Passed first time with no advisories - happy with that for a car I put together from boxes of bits!

Technically MOT exempt but I think good to get it checked.

Made some good progress over the last few days, we can now start, go, steer and stop!

Nice radiator! You can also see the new reclamation yard shelf which looks cool but you can't really put stuff on...
Had a great experience with Ken Allen Radiators in Plymouth. Took the radiator down with Dirtbiker Junior and explained my error with the long bolts. Ken gave us a tour of his workshop and we pressure tested the rad there and then to check for other leaks. Ken even showed me a photo of his grandson with a fire engine radiator they had just restored. The rad was deemed in excellent health other than the hole I put in it and Ken had it ready for me next day with a fresh coat of paint and charged a very reasonable sum. He is going to do me an added capacity rad for the 96.

Is the Nikki fitted to a single choke manifold with an SAH adaptor? Edit: just followed your link in another thread: http://www.saab-v4.co.uk/speedball/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8278

You need 1/2" long 5/16" UNC bolts for the rad.
