Not the only car at Swedish Day with RAC wheels...!
ZagatoPosted - 11 May 2017 : 18:40:11
RAC wheels yes thats what I mentioned but Mike said his were specifically called Forest wheels or similar and he WOULD know . This is Mike Philpott who owns the Souvenir if you didn,t know!!

The wheels are VERY easy to bend as Mike pointed out on the day showing me a dent in the rim from a previous light knock. Suspension would not have been affected anywhere near the small knock the rim had. Mike or Al can clarify for you. e.g. FlipTop on here.

They're called RAC wheels.

It does actually; you'd rather bend a wheel than break the suspension in a rally, much easier to replace in the field. For the same reason the soccer ball wheels were machined for rally cars.

They are not such much banded as original rally wheels. forgotten what Mike says they are called, something like forest wheels, near Impossible to get hold of now. Mike has a second set as they can bend easily hitting a pot hole. Yes doesn,t make sense for rallying. Had them for thirty odd years.

Sarah in the 66..i used the 900S.
I have to say this was (for us) the best Swedish Day yet.
Lots of pictures but struggling with my Photobucket AND Flickr accounts so it may be a few days.
I never expected the trophy..it was a huge surprise (best car mascots) and congratulations Andy on your prize for "furthest traveled".
I had a good long chat with Robin yesterday and today...the official turn out was 190 cars (and not 170 as stated else where). And in other "news".. as from this week I will be part of the organising team for 2018 so expect to hear it here first!

Bummer Steve. I didn't take any photos by the way, too busy talking I'm afraid!

Melle,
Yes I went to the Haynes Museum.
It's my own fault for not reading the advert.
Glad that the day went well. Look forward to seeing some photos.

Hi Chris, I kept seeing you out the corner of my eye, but was always in mid-conversation or parts distribution!

Thanks for the compliment btw, I shall pass it on! Not sure what happened to her this weekend, she normally just about tolerates Saab's and comes along as she enjoys the camping part, but she loved it this weekend and even bought a Saab Enthusiasts sweater! I don't think we're quite at the 'his and hers' Saab's just yet, but it's a start! ;)
