Just a heads up that some members of the 2017 RAC Saab Rally team will be at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon on Sat 13th January - it's the Historic Rally Registers club meeting so a good selection of other cars will also be there so well worth a visit if you can make it.

Well done to all.
Watched some Youtube films. Too Many Escorts, but then what's new.

Dave, Steve and John from Malbrad deserve massive praise for preparing our now silver 96. The black variant was good, the silver car was brilliant.
The car flew down the stages, the final drive in the gear box gears the car for acceleration rather than massive top speed but I glanced up from my notes on a particularly long straight in the Falstone stage on Monday to see 98 mph on my trip meter. I quickly looked back at my notes at that point! The grip, handling and speed of that car are amazing.
There were many high points in the rally: flicking on the spot lights into a pitch black forest, racing across moorland roads to make up time after hectic roadside service, Lynn's catering, pushing the car and ourselves to the max when exhausted, a few lows: broken front suspension in an extremely fast Kielder stage (wonderfully repaired by the Malbrad boys) and complete electrical failure mid stage (worryingly fixed by Colin "hot wiring" the ignition switch, where did he learn that one?) but maybe the highlight was Colin's awesome driving, especially in the 20 mile stage in Kielder when he caught and passed one of the high powered Mk 2 Escorts.
Steve has put a lot of photos of the car build on the Malbrad Facebook site, hopefully he will be able to put some of our in car video on there too. I'm useless with such stuff. I'm no good with social media things, sorry.

Final results after 30 stages just coming through - great to see 5 Saabs out of the 7 that started make it through the final stage! Commiserations to Fran and Ceiriog who didn't make it.

More pics the 2 stroke was flying - some impressive times for so little BHP and they caught cars on some of the stages!!

Sadly had to return home today so left the crews hard at it going through the Scottish stages. Finish tomorrow (Monday) with more stages in Kielder.

Tuthill's 96 now out with electrical failure

Clear skys bright sun in Keilder Saturday. Another great day and 6 of the Saabs still going. The crews have plenty of stories to tell, Jim's 99 running out of wheels and Gavin being baulked by a Lancia with a Rodant on the roof - perhaps the rodant should be facing backwards to tell the driver to get out of the way!!!! Frantic activity on Colin's 96 at Keilder service - pics to follow.
