I have done some "HERO" rallies with my car and am planning more, however I feel the need to stiffen up the suspension as it is a bit too roly poly!
I have Bilsteins all round but standard springs: what are the recommendations for uprated springs (and ideas as to where to get them would be handy)?
Thanks

Have you converted it to a van or are those lexan side windows?

Fuling, can you please post some pics (yes I struggle to do that) of how you did your coilovers
fulingPosted - 20 Jan 2018 : 15:58:52
Rear 95:
Try to find a spring with wire diameters of 13mm.
Inner diameter about the same as rear springs.
Then just try.

Just this that it's hard to find springs with good rate made me go on the coil over.
2.25 "springs are available in lots of lengths and rate (N/mm or lbs/in)

Great info, thanks. I'm quite happy with springs and shocks at the front because nose weight is normally constant, but it would be great to have some sort of level adjustment system for the rear of my 95 van. I don't drive my cars in anger, just want to be able to carry some weight or pull a trailer from time to time. If at all possible, I prefer to use parts from a standard road car; it keeps the cost down and I like a good old root at the scrappies with a tape measure.

I have Leda coilovers.
But they are out of business what I know.
Standard lengths with special damping curves.
I have 100mm strokes

Now that looks very good fuling! I've been thinking about coilover conversions myself, but never got any further than some basic measurements. I like your front and rear swaybar set-up as well. Did you build your own coilovers or did you borrow them from another car?

How to upload pictures here?
mellePosted - 11 Jan 2018 : 21:24:45
I have a set of standard (green markings) C900 CC springs to go on the front of my 96, but I don't dare fitting them with my standard spring compressors and I'm not sure whether they're too firm for standard road use. Hope to buy or borrow the original Saab tool one day to get the job done and see what they're like.

My C900 is currently fitted with Kilen springs, which suck. I may try fitting the rears to the front of the 96, they're a bit shorter than standard springs. Good excuse to buy a set of heavy duty rear springs for the 900!

Curious to see some pics of your coilover conversion fuling.

Hi Fuling,
Sounds interesting, do you have pictures of the coilover and rear anti roll bar set up?
Not something I plan to do ever but interesting to see!
Cheers

Which is the most? (All three!)
Most gravel -> soft car
More tarmac -> stiffer car
Track, autocross more stiffer springs

My car little street.
Aotocross and trackdays
Front springs 130N mm and rear 50N/mm
Anti rollbar front std, no back.
Now with coilovers 140/60 and anti rollbars front and rear.

(130N/mm) Front Springs are saab 900 (1979-1093) rear Combi cupe for caravan.
Std 900 CC also goes
std 900 sedan more like rally 4V springs, a little stiffer

Saab rally spring front 50-60N/mm.
I do not know rear, but they were progresive.
I guess around 20-30N/mm
