Hi All,
Melle's thread has reminded me that I recently had to send back some QH leads that didn't fit.
Here's the listing:

The part number on the box was XC498.

The seller was adamant these fitted but the king lead was half the length it needed to be to physically reach and the other leads were too long to be tidy.

The seller did refund me (although not postage but that serves me right for buying cheap off ebay) but they wouldn't accept that I was correct even though I spent much time faffing sending photos.

They suggested the distributor must have been moved to a non standard location. I didn't get a reply when I suggested this would be quite a feat as it's gear driven off the camshaft...

Anyway, anybody else tried QH part number XC498?

Don't forget that most of the time, NOS cables no longer have their original resistance value.

The QH number I have in my book is XC13, which is for MKI and MK II Escort, also Dolomite and TR7. Has anyone made a note of ideal lengths for these leads? Don't have a 96 now but often check HT lead boxes at jumbles. Beaulieu this coming weekend so an ideal place to look. I often see a guy who has a load of bagged leads laid out on a sheet. They are cheap and say what they are for, and he may be there so I can cross-check. Long ago you could go into parts shops and buy them from a rack where they hung according to length. They were good leads and you could mix and match according to your needs.
No 96 but still keep my eyes open for things like water pumps.

Yep, I tried to be helpful and was very polite to the seller but he seemed to take it the wrong way and couldn’t accept I hadn’t made a mistake.
I think Melle found a good source of V6 leads at a good price.
I just put the old leads back on and you have reminded me that job should be on the list!

I’ve just bought a set of these same vendor on e bay .
I wish I had read this post first but they were good maker ,I thought good seller and good price .
As you say too long ,which is not the end of the world but far too short for coil HT lead .
More a worry is my alternator is so close to the plug that it’s always had a L shape connector not the long push in rubber supplied.

How did you sort yourself out.? Can anyone please advise where I can get the proper set or have the 2 offending leads made up at reasonable cost ?
The annoying point is The seller despite your warning is still selling them !

Thanks for the warning. Seems as though they recommend them for the UK V4 too.
