melle | Posted - 05 Aug 2019 : 22:13:51 I'm tentatively looking for a wooden Nardi/ Saab steering wheel with boss for my 96, preferably of this type (17", no visible rivets, light-ish wood, slotted spokes, matt-finish):

Condition not too important as long as it's serviceable. What have you got? Happy to swap for parts.

melle | Posted - 07 Mar 2023 : 13:02:02 Can anyone measure their early/ bakelite type OEM V4 wheel, or one like below for me please? Would be fun to draw in CAD, even if I don't have time to make one any time soon (I know how these things go, there will probably be a laser cut blank on my desk soon if I'm not careful. )

Derek | Posted - 07 Mar 2023 : 12:47:41 I see that the Tradera ad says newly remanufactured. I wonder who is making them. Currently the price is low but if they are Chinese and still good they may be good value. Looks OK.Is it 17". |
melle | Posted - 07 Mar 2023 : 11:21:27 Thanks for the heads up Matt! I think I have a Tradera account, but can't remember buying anything on there.
I bought a 16" Moto-Lita on eBay the other day, but it's still a tad smaller than I'd like (and it has those ugly rivets). I may end up making my own wheel, but I have enough projects already, so an off-the-shelf one would be nice.

I've dealt with this seller before on a few occasions, always good |

Nearly a year later and nothing has changed! So, still looking to trade a steering wheel for other parts if anyone is interested.

Derek | Posted - 31 Mar 2022 : 13:52:04 Don't take these as gospel but I have these boss kit numbers in my "little book" Nardi #4300.00.4302 This supposedly allows you to fit the Saab 900 Nardi to the 96. Astrali to '69 AW13 '70 0n AW79 Motolita to'69 F16H '70 on F16AH If anyone can confirm these it would be good. Other boss kit numbers also good. Mountney? |

melle | Posted - 04 Sep 2019 : 21:07:21 Thanks for the heads up. There are a few on eBay, but I just don't like the rivets. Not that I'm fussy. ;)

deggsie | Posted - 04 Sep 2019 : 16:16:38 There's one (or two) advertised on the Bay at the moment (for just over half what Anton's asking for the museum example), see https://ebay.us/wQEHZs - though these have visible rivets.

green96v4 | Posted - 19 Aug 2019 : 12:16:47 Mini wheel didn't fit my column (not even close, way too small) - sorry for any misleading |
Dirtbiker | Posted - 15 Aug 2019 : 23:19:32 Good point about the size! |

Way too big for a race/ rally car!

green96v4 | Posted - 15 Aug 2019 : 02:08:06 I have a leather Mountney steering wheel from one of the classic Coopers we used to import I’ll see if it fits mine at the weekend |
Dirtbiker | Posted - 14 Aug 2019 : 22:56:17 I've been thinking about one of these for the 96 too. What size is a standard steering wheel? Did any SAABs (2 stroke Sport?) come with these as standard or perhaps they were in the S & R catalogue? I'll have a look and report back now I've had that thought... Edit - No wood rimmed steering wheels in the 1972 catalogue (I guess not safe enough?) Loads of other cool stuff though! |
