| That roof rack is awesome! John's right, a longboard would look very cool strapped to that.
I got hold of an original saab roof rack at the Intsaab show - which, with a bit of tinkering will look great, but I'm still supremely jealous! | |

| I have been reading the thread about yellow/amber spotlights over on UKSaabs and still haven't read that it's 100% legal to have amber headlights in the UK..the yellow against the green car would look cool! | |

| Looks great John, very period, ready for that continental tour! I also like the silver on black number plates, did you get them made up yourself or were they always on the car, I always thought only cars registered before 1970 could have them? I might get some made for my 96. | |

| No keep them on, as Steve said I don't suppose the police will be that bothered, or you set up a James Bond style device where you switch them when the cops come into view - I may be taking things too far. | |

| If you EVER see one of those racks come up for sale again, can you PLEASE let me know - it looks so COOL!!!
I've even got some 50's cool boxes that would look the business on it!
Out of desperation I don't suppose you could ask the e-bay seller if he knows where to get one?

| Steve, I think you must have cursed me, I was stopped by the police on Friday night for having a non year related registration number. I have Nick Ayliffes old car (see gallery)he got it off his godmother who lives in Jersey so he had to have it re registered, always wondered why it had the number it does, but didn't take much notice until now, now I have to get it changed. | |

| Steve, I have checked with the DVLA, it is registered, but they have made a mistake and it should be an age related plate, so I do have to get it changed. I won't have to pay for it and they will refund for making the plates up as well, so its not to much of a problem, it would even be an oportunity to get the silver on black plates if I am feeling lucky! | |

| Your reg is legal, sort of, 'cos that was the ruling when it was registered but the overriding rule now is that you can't have a registration that's newer than the car. This can stop fraud with the seller making the car appear newer than it is. Yes, getting an age related plate is free but you'll likely get one with a P on the end so you'll still have to have reflective plates. These have to be fitted on cars reg from 1st Jan '73 onwards. | |

| Derek, you're probably right, I probably won't be able to get away with a P reg with black and silver plates | |

| NOT GOOD! I had a great day over at Goodwood breakfast club..had an enthusiastic drive back and parked Veronica outside of my workshop. Worked on the Rally car for about 4 hrs then needed to move Veronica so that we could get the Zodiac out. I jumped in the car and turned the key..there was a massive backfire and a loud BANG!..the oil filler cap had been blown clean off..it hit the inside of the bonnet with a lot of force and somehow managed to find it's way 30 yds down the road. I opened the bonnet to find a lot of oily smoke. I started the car with the oil filler cap off..it chuffed blue smoke for about 5 seconds and then it cleared. She ran fine for the minute or so that i allowed it to run and then i turned her off. I havent had a chance to have a look but i guess that the head gasket has gone...possibly more? I'm working away from home this week so it will be a while before i can investigate further. | |
