Hi All,

This isn't mine but belongs to a good friend of mine down here in Plymouth. It was parked up outside four years ago with a broken starter motor. This morning we decided to start SAAB rescue!

Pumped up a tyre, bungied the Jetex that was on the ground due to perished rubbers and dragged it across the car park in gear. Once we realised the choke flap wasn't closing she fired up! Runs pretty well but all the carb linkages are a bit seized up from standing. Clutch and brakes seem fine.

Remarkably this car has never been welded and doesn't appear to need any. Lifted the front carpets and original sound deadening in place and bone dry.

Next job is a good clean and moss removal followed by swapping the starter motor and see what needs doing for an MOT.

Cheers

Your colour too John! I'll find out the history on this one but I'm pretty sure my mate is the second owner and the mileage is about 65K. It is the best I have ever seen underneath and I reckon the paint is original except for maybe one wing.

This looks really good. Going by the amount of exhaust smoke, it Seems to run better than mine!

WHat is the interior like?

Not been back to this one yet but someone has been busy!

As much as I'm a fan of Patina I think the Rat Look Boat Anchor effect was perhaps a step too far and a good wash was probably necessary. Next time I'm over there I'll make a note of the chassis number and pm it Woody.

Cheers

Hi John,

The owner is pretty excited about getting it back on the road and he has owned quite a long time so can't seem him selling! If he does ever want to sell it I'll let you know - haven't you got enough in this colour already though?!

Cheers

I have an itch to turn the 96 I have into a "reasonably fast road car" and would like a 96 to use while my "project" is off the road as it's going to take a bit of time to sort. I don't want to stack up the miles on my 95 and it's not as much fun to drive as a 96.
