| Made the cardinal mistake of taking my headlamp wipe mechanism apart - got a broken bracket I needed off to try and fix it - without making a record of how it goes back together Doh!
Does anyone have a photo of how the tension cords connect? or a set of instructions they could photocopy/scan/lend?
Any help gratefully received. Cheers!

| Well all sorted out successfully. The broken part was (so I thought) strongly glued together and reinforced with a metal plate, and all was reassembled reattached and ready to go. I had put a new wiper motor on, but still nothing worked - I traced it eventually to a corroded in-line fuse link so I replaced that. Finally I thought - we have lift off.
Guess what - second wipe of the lights and the b***** plastic bit broke again!! I am sure now I need a complete whole part - its this bit in black (currently secured with a cable tie to stop the wipe mechanism dropping)
PLEASE has anyone got one?? I missed a whole assembly on ebay last week too by £1 and 5 seconds! Happy to pay whatever. I've posted this in the parts wanted bit too.

| Swedish SAAB club replied that I need to be a member to buy the bit, so I have joined for SEK300 - about £30. Part will cost me SEK20, so all in all a bit more expensive than I thought. See if I ever get my hands on the pigeon that broke it.......

| Woohoo!!!
Finally after 4 months, a £35 subscription to Svenska Saabklubben, £4 for the parts (I bought 2 just in case) and £6 postage I got hold of the bit I needed! Buying off the SSK wasnt easy - they dont like PayPal or credit cards so in the end I looked out some SEK I had left over from a trip to Stockholm, stuck 4 1 SEK coins to a piece of card wrapped in a 100SEK note and sent it off. Theremust be easier ways of doing this!

| Well done Paul, you realise you will now have a steady stream of folk wanting you to order bits for them? I'll be in touch shortly with a small list! | |

| Just had a simular problem with 'Erik Randa' for a few bits and bobs. He doesn't accept Paypal or cards (what is it with these Swedes?). Erik wanted me to send an electronic bank transfer (which would have cost an extra £28 this end, plus £8 from the receiving bank (Swed bank AB)..This extra, just for about £15 worth of goods. I sent a bankers drawn cheque instead which cost £8 to draw up. Sent it to Erik with a letter of explanation and I wait to hear (it was only done Monday)- we'll see. Is it that the Swedes refuse to have Paypal's charge deducted? It doesn't seem to be a problem in Holland or France. | |

| I've just sent cash in the past, free to exchange at the post office, you can send it via a tracked service just in case, saves a lot of hassle, never had anyone say they've not received the cash.

| Here's one of the reasons why I buy most parts in the UK, everybody uses PayPal. Online banking on the other hand seems to be non-existent in the UK, I clearly remember the queues at the bank on Saturday mornings from my years in Aberdeen. In the six months I live in Denmark now, I found out that doing business in Scandinavia generally involves a lot of hassle (might be the language barrier) and is very expensive. Glad we live in free-trade zone Europe.

| Postage from Germany is also very high for some reason.

| I sold some Saab parts to the USA, buyer paid US$175 using PayPal and they charged me US$ 7. I think that's a lot (but a bank transfer from the USA to NL is even more expensive) so if I can avoid dealing with Paypal I will - I understand those Swedes.
A bank transfer in Europe using BIC and IBAN is free, so why not use that?

When it comes to banking for private persons the UK isn't quite up to standard compared to the rest of Europe, but the powers that be don't seem to bother so nothing changes.
This said I would like to add that I prefer to buy car (service) parts in the UK; reasonable prices and low postage fees. No problem with Paypal or credit card payment.
