Gave her a wash yesterday and cleaned up her interior trims bits. I also wrote a list of bits needed if anyone is going to Swedish Day or the SOC.

Now I have this red one to fullfill my rally look desire I don,t need to spend top money on mint spotlights for the opal green one. I can pick up a pair without covers that seem to go for £100 on eBay and just buy some bosche nicke replica covers :D

The rally stickers are available somewhere on Ebay for £180 so I am hoping to get them done locally cheaper.

I will put my map light where you have on yours Woody.

I am going to paint the steel wheels black like the early rally cars in red. Will try one to see how it looks, banded also would be cool!

It,s got to have a leather bonnet strap and a rear light even though the reversing lights are already on it with an 'S' badge :D

I will just put seat covers on for now as I need one red seat base. Other items include;
1972 dash top, I dropped my spare getting it off the shelf and put a whole through it
Front bins and the wheel arch trim cover near them,
Black side top trims,
2 old style oval hole wheels or a set,
Rear windscreen,
I will make up some boot board,
Door bottom rubbers,
Door frame rubber seals.
I have a two stroke front rubber mat I can hopefully make to fit (nobody wants it) and will cut out some rubber mat for the rear.
Make up some floor boarding. Carpets can come later if needed.
The seats will just be covered although the foam is breaking up in bits so I will need to do those, think Al put a guide somewhere in one of the Driver mags of how to replace the foam.

I will need to buy new;
Windscreen rubber inserts,
wiper spindle grommets,
Side window front door rubbers,
Rear wing protector rubbers,
Elephant ear badges. I have NOS SAAB,V4, and the front grill badge (although shame to use them on this). Also need front wing SAABS badges!
Going to buy some new rear lenses off SAAB Klubben (presume they are newly made replica,s for £60  and put those on the opal green 96 and use the existing lenses on that motor for Dotty!

I'll have that 2-stroke rubber matt off you - it'll look great in the pickup!

I bought it for mine in the absence of v4 front mats Si, (just a shame to use it in a V4 and having to perhaps chop it up) and I'm still in that position so until I can find some front sets for both cars I will need it I'm afraid. Mats seem to be one of the harder things to find, I sold my last good ones to Al, years ago.

Edit... Just put it in and it fits perfectly, Don,t know why I was thinknig it would need cutting, it,s the rears that are different on models. I have been using it as a kneeling mat unfortunately so it now needs a serious clean. If I come across another SI, I will let you know

The good news is I can justify that second Mota Lita steering wheel now instead of just hanging it on the wall. I have a good replacement dash to go on as this one is rusty.

Well, if you do find a set of V4 ones, you at least know that I'm interested!

Thanks, you never know if your own drivel interests anybody but what really motivates me is reading other people's project threads and I think it is a real shame that more people don,t do it. There are some amazing builds going on out there and people with proper knowledge on these 96's but only a few people post.

I think it is really important for people to post what ever they can about their 96's, it keeps the marque, knowledge and forums alive. Facebook has it,s place but forums tend to hold a library of information that people can access and can get answers to immediately.

I keep mentioning it but it would be nice to get the gallery up and running again, at the very least it would be a good historical record of the cars with a few details about them and we all like looking through pics of 96's.

Thanks for that , I may look into bucket seats but will probably stick with lurvely red seats at the moment. I don,t know how much re trimming is but I am tempted as the back seat is knackered! I have some spare seats to keep the good orignal one.

How do you fit the bonnet latch (presume it is made from the interior door pull) onto the front grill, rally style?

I can help with a lot of those items on your "Wanted list", some of the rubbers, glass, early wheels, dash top, front bins, wheel arch covers.
Get a full list together and I can get them ready for Swedish Day or drop them off when I come up to look at the car.

'73 96 (Vernon),'74 95 (Veronica)plus 4 other 95's and 2 96's

So I have been thinking of how to give Dotty a lick of paint on the cheap. Coming from the Land Rover world there is a well known company that specialises in enamel coach paint that can be brushed or rolled on. Sounds mad but brushing was how they did it in the old days!

I have painted three boat hulls now which looked presentable with a roller. It obviously doesn,t give you the finish of 2 pac gloss but then I don,t want to spend 4k, or even 1k come to think of it on Dotty. She will be a fun hack to be used, enjoyed and preserved.

The paint will fade eventually but that is OK, it can be all part of the look with a few rally stickers.

If you have a small compressor, give spraying a go.
I only have a hobby 20 Ltr one but get half decent results. Reasonable quality gravity fed gun=job done.
I sprayed the Beetle that's in my Betsy thread.
