What should the distance be from the wheel centre, to the underside of the wing, on the front?
I have the Full Monty SAAB manual, but it doesn't seem to tell you.

The later ones had a lower ride height, yours is probably the same as mine as I have the later type shorter springs with the Orange dab of paint on them denoting later springs!

Will measure mine for you later but it all depends on how tired the springs are of course.

Your making me look a bigger fool than I already am Andy whilst taking my tyre pressures which is only 15psi on the offside I realised the wngine and gearbox are out also . Sorry.

The 72 reg 96 from hub to wing is 14.75" on offside and 13.75" on the nearside as it is on a slope at an angle... I hope!

As ever I am about as useful to the SAAB community as a chocolate T pot

Apologies Zagato but this brought a smile.

No wings, no engine , no gearbox , no air in the tyres and your other car is on a slope

Just measured mine - 14.25" from centre of hub vertically to wing edge.
If you give me a few minutes, I can whip the engine and gearbox out to compare measurements with Zagato's

Deggsie

14.25" is 362 mm. Mine is around 310 mm, so now I know I'm sitting down a bit at the front. This would explain why I keep grounding my exhaust...!
I've got new springs, time to fit them methinks!!!!

As a matter of interest, what are the measurements at the back?

I've already got new springs on the back, in spite of which, it sits down quite a bit at the back, and I'm thinking if it comes up 50 mm it might look a bit strange.....

Could the rubber bumpers be weighing it down a little?

Do the alloys and type of tyres make a difference?

You might be right about the bumpers. I converted my MGB from rubber to chrome bumpers, and I couldn't believe the weight of the things!!

What d'ya all think of the ride height?

I think the stance there looks pretty good. Depending on the conditions when you ground the exhaust it might just be that your front shocks are bit soft. Generally I don't think many people will describe the 96 front suspension as soft. With the front end weight bias being high it has to be stiff to cope. Late cars are a bit lower at the front but I don't know if the change coincided with the rubber bumpers. For the same wire diameter, shorter springs are stiffer. Springs also changed when they deleted the ARB I think but don't know what year that was.
