Hi everybody just acquired a set of Pistons for a 1700 v4 on the box it says original bore is 90 mm plus 0.75 mm does this sound correct any info would be appreciated. The Pistons are with rings and are NOS made by hepolite thanks

So the standard bore is 90mm, but to account for manufacturing tolerances pistons are made in a range of sizes and matched to the bore of the engine. This also gives allowances for reboring.

+0.75 sounds like a bit much for a production tolerance, so these are probably a set for a rebore. Sounds like a good opportunity for some engine fettling.


Are these HC or LC pistons? Been looking for a set of HC pistons and rods for Dusty to go with my 1700 crank. Thinking Pinto pistons would do nicely, possibly with a stage 2 works overbore to 1815cc.

How do you tell if they are Hc or luc I can send you a picture if you want as I can't put pictures on the site

+.75 is overbore size. From memory: LC pistons are 39.5mm from the centre of the gudgeon pin, HC pistons 41mm.

Just meausured them and I think they are low compression

91mm Pinto pistons are an easy swap if having the block bore anyway. They are low skirt to fit the 1700 crank throw and also hi-Comp.

Easy to get hold of from Burtons etc
