| Hi all,
I’ve accumulated a few spares to help keep my 96 on the road in the future, and I’m not sure what is the best way to store them.
I have a brick garage where the car lives and also some space in the attic- above the loft insulation- that gets very hot in summer and cold in winter, and not that well ventilated.
The small stuff is in the attic at the moment - eg a distributor, starter, steering rack, brake callipers. Now that it’ll be dry, would it be a good plan to try to seal moisture out using plastic bags or similar, or is that asking for trouble because if moisture gets in it’ll never evaporate?
Alternative could be to leave them open on a shelf in the garage, which is better ventilated.
I also have an engine and gearbox which are living in the garage and will have to stay there. I can manually turn them over every now and then, but is there anything else I should be doing?
Thanks,
Joe. |

| I generally just hope for the best; I turn my spare engines over every now and then though.

| Small stuff put in boxes, or bags, throw a couple packets of silica gel in with them. I do that for all my old cameras, keeps mold from growing on the lenses. | |

| I keep interior parts - seats, carpets and a few other bits - in the spare bedroom, light lenses are on a shelf in the sitting room, and suspension parts which have just had two coats of hammerite are in the airing cupboard curing. Still got a Norton featherbed frame under a towel round her side of the bed... | |
