Hi All,
Any recommendations on wing beading?
This looks like it might do the job nicely https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/1805/rubber-extrusion

Hi Dirtbiker,

I bought wing piping from Woolies which is a good match for the original . It is however plastic, not rubber.
I have not fitted it yet so I cannot comment on the ease of fitting.

Find it on the Woolies web site at "Trimmings" then "Wing Piping"
It comes in different colours.

An alternative may be found via Volkswagen Beetle suppliers.

The originals were plastic and grey in colour.
The front wings have two pieces long one from the bottom front screw past the headlights through to the top two screws in the door aperture. the short pieces are for half way down the door aperture but were different shapes left and right. Rear wing pieces start at bottom of wing adjacent to stone guard through to last screw and clip below the bumper.
Have some spare front wing strips but these stop at the upper front panel screw.
I put new ones in the Troll rebuild. Can remove and measure if needed.
Haven't resolved Photobucket issue yet so unable to post pics.

Acting on a comment in the other Saab forum it looks as if Photobucket is back working again. Log in and confirm your email address if asked. Here is a test pic from my library. I haven't tried to add any pics yet.

Woody
I switched across to Flickr, when Photobucket brought out their $400 pa, to be able post pictures.
I'll go now and try Photobucket again....

Yep, Photobucket works again!
They must have given up trying to fleece people for $400!!

Just have to remember to change IMG to img, at each end of the link string.

You do find some great locations to show your car off Andy. Well done.

Derek, what is going on with that exhaust system? Looks like it splits into 3 pipes under the rear seat, then back into one again, unless my eyes are playing tricks (which is quite likely)

Gareth, I think Malbrad stock wing beading

Greg

The photo was taken in the Mountains of Mourne, in County Down, last year, during the time that we were there for the Kilbroney Classic Car show.

I knew someone would comment about that exhaust, that's why I posted it. Should be in another thread though. I've no details but the front Y comes out of the rear of the engine bay like some of the works ones and the triple tube is a way of getting a very flat extra silencer that isn't prone to getting wiped off on rocks. Don't know who it is but maybe Woody might know.

James, I think I'll try the plastic Woolies one in black. Now I think about it the beading on the 96 is from a VW specialist which I fitted 20 years ago with new front wings.
Barry, I'll look at seals direct too, thanks.
I suspect the skanmobile stuff is the same as Woolies...?
Woody - never realised the fronts should be two sections, every day is a school day!
Photo bucket never stopped working for me but I am a low volume user. Painfully slow with all the adverts though.
Next question - I'm away for a week now so not near a v4. How much do I need to order for the front wings?
Cheers

Nice photo Andy but then it was taken in the Mournes so I have to be a bit biased.

Hi Peter,
Nice to see your still a Saab enthusiast.
XMS is fine, I have just fitted a Hall effect ignition as developed by Melle that is working well and planning on fitting round headlamps. It's nice to have something to tinker with,

Best wishes,

Barry
