| Good news indeed Rhys.
We all need a lift now and then.. You have given me a lift by proxy.
I can only imagine looking at those lovely new corners.
Onwards and upwards James

| Today looking in the cold light of day, one front corner needs a bit of revision, the front panel (behind the bumper) needs to be dropped by 1 cm otherwise it will look a bit lopsided :( | |

| More progress, even if I can't manage the photo thing Both front corners are now sculptured in steel, as opposed to the paper an quantities of filler previously. Outsides are now smooth and will be etch primed tomorrow. The inside will take a bit more work with the powerfile before I'll be happy to flash some paint on. The top of the inner wings had some issues just forward of the bonnet roller tracks, so that's been cut out and replaced. It did move a bit when I cut it, so had to clamp a piece of angle steel on the outside to line it up with the wing line, so I decided it must take strain and has been double skinned there.

| Dear old Siggy was collected from work while I was home with man flu for the last structural repairs. I went to have a look today, but "my man" wasn't there. Hopefully this means only cosmetics and getting it running well are the next steps, then sadly back on the market ready to be painted in colour of choice. Currently Carolina Blue. | |

| Thanks to Gareth. As can be seen this is largely "before" More details may come after the evening meal. I'm not promising a whole lot, but who knows. | |

| It's back home. Now to re-attack, Today is "right front corner". Instead of flitting all round the thing I'm now concentrating one place at a time for the first time ever in messing with cars for the last 50+ years. So, all the weld repairs are now dressed back to remove extraneous weld, initial steel treatment applied, and cuppa time. Back out soon for etch prime. https://www.flickr.com/photos/186014065@N04/shares/12u50y
Please forgive my senility while I try to figure pics, these are "befores" for my testing! | Edited by - RhysN on 14 Dec 2019 15:34:32 | |

| I'm very sad, and happy! The repairs that were done to the floor are well below good, so I am cutting out repairs I paid for and however my good friend Paul here in Tamworth is allowing me to cut repair panels from one of his breaker cars to make the floor almost like new. Soccerballs from Gareth coming too! It's starting to look as though I might have to keep the thing for a while! | |

| Two steps forward, 3 back! I have now refurbished the grille/light panel, stripped gunge and thankfully very sound underneath. WITH PERMISSION I was allowed to put the alloy pieces in the dishwasher (top shelf) and they came out well. I had every intention of refitting the lights and every other bit, however prior to that I attacked the Jetex. I completed the exhaust wrap, properly safety wired each end so it will be a while before it unravels, then started to fit it. I totally understand now why some have suggested replacing the studs with cap screws, so I "unfitted" the front part to extract the studs. 3 went well with my stud extractor, however, perhaps a bit too much effort on the breaker bar! Well named that bit of a socket set, as now I have to take the engine out to extract the broken bit of stud. Ah well, at least I know I'm ticking off jobs as I go! (Still haven't properly figured the Flickr. | |

| Following a comment on facebook I may now redo (again) a bit of the floor where my welder didn't have the inclination to do the folds needed, I don't really want to, but it would look better. It is only cosmetic as every scrap of rusty metal was cut out and new metal properly let in, rather than the plating I have seen which is so common. What I have learned after 3 years in this country is that it does NOT pay to be honest about condition, which I am. Others assume that things will be much worse, so may as well bull**** that it's a whole lot better than it is. Then their assumptions get to about the actual condition. I sold my Peugeto 504 pickup the other day, buyer was very surprised that it was "as described". While he was here he looked at the Saab, and said the same thing, of course he has actually looked before commenting! Rant over. | |

| I can't comment on the actual repair because I haven't seen it, but if it's indeed only a cosmetic upgrade to the floor that no one will ever see, I would leave it as it is if you want this car back on the road. That being said, it's your car, so do as you please and ignore random Facebook and forum comments!

| Well, I guess there's a positive ide to being confined to home. Sigfrid is close to being driven up and down the road. The wings still need to be painted, as does the rest of the car really.A decision needs to be made about the interior, rally style or near stock. Finish the new hoses on the cooling system and it's go time. Ah, no, I need either a temp sender for the manifold or a plug. Mislaid somewhere. Each time I do something, I realise how many odd little things I have done along the way. Example is handbrake lever boots and new clevis pins. Just small things, but they add up to a whole lot. | |

| If you want (some) return on investment, I would think standard interior is the best option. I can send you a used temp sender if that's any help, not tested though. New ones aren't that expensive.
