I've just taken delivery of '74 95V4 in (mostly) Verona Green.
I only bought it to stop John getting a monopoly on V4s this colour
By mostly I mean the front wings are a slightly different shade of green, the bonnet looks a bit like the one on the white over green 95 from Texas, the rear wings are a bit scabby, and the tailgate should be savable.
It runs and can be driven round the yard, but having been in storage for about 8 years it just needs re-commissioning and a bit of titivation. Famous last words...

However, before I can't introduce the car to the Projects section it needs a name.
Your mission, should you wish to accept it, is to come up with a suitable name. Not one that is currently in use on this forum - so Vernon, Veronica and Smordragon are out - doesn't need to be witty or clever - just apt.

Photos will follow once I've sorted out a hosting site.

Thanks Derek. That sounds bit too Wagnerian to me (I'm not keen on Wagner). Not sure I could fall in love with a Grunhilda

It didn’t come from Plymouth did it?
I knew of a car fitting this description owned by a nice guy who was in the navy.
He visited my place about 8 years ago but I didn’t hear from him again so I guessed the project had stalled.
Cheers

I know the conundrum well, and now that one was chosen by "She who should be obeyed" she doesn't like too much!

I've using fotor to resize pics to the 'other forum' for about 18 months, and just wondered whether it would work on here as a host.
Just spent a couple of hours playing with flickr. Lets see whether this works. I've had a go at some areas of the paint with G3

...not the bonnet, obviously

Well done on getting another one Clive! Saab used two different colour codes that went by the name Verona Green (different suppliers?), that explains the colour difference.

Hi Melle,
I just couldn't say NO to this one! I've seen a reference somewhere to Verona and Verona2. Don't know whether or not that is due to the different suppliers. They look a lot closer match in the flesh than in the photos. When I open the bonnet the inner wings & bulkhead are a different (and I suspect original) shade again. This car is a lot more sound than my 96 was when it arrived, and better than many that I have seen in 'Projects' here. Lots of black sticky stuff that I suspect is 'Ziebart' everywhere has helped to keep the dreaded red tin worm at bay

That looks a tidy 95 Melle...and all the same colour...
I've had a few suggestions for a name from my customers:
Sylvia - the wife of the Duke of Milan in Two Gentlemen from Verona
Gordon - apparently the car looks a little bit like a bottle of a certain brand of gin (other's are available!)
Llortnorg - suggested by a fan of Welsh literature - work it out for yourself...
Jade - a mineral that occurs in many shades of green & a female troll character from Discworld - so far this seems most apt.
Keep the suggestions coming guys

Greg.
For hosting photos, use Flickr. It works a treat.

Another suggestion for a name - Napoleon? - I was thinking more of the pig in Animal Farm, rather than the wee Corsican!

Though I believe machines should always have a female name......

It was pretty rusty underneath and the engine and gearbox needed work. Too busy to fix it at the time so sold it on.

Sadly that's often the case Melle. Tidy upstairs - tinworm downstairs

Thanks for your suggestions Andy. I've never had a car with a name that suggested either gender: Chuggaboom, Turbotabs, the Custardwagon.
Just thought of one exception: Old Bill - due to the numerical part of the reg. No not Whitehall 1212...

Had a few more suggestions: Bernadette (for no particular reason), Gilbert (the Alien), the Gherkin, and one customer just refers to it as 'the Green Thing'
