| Hey All,
Well, we are moving house in less than two weeks and the 96 is still up on axle stands so what do we need...? Another project!
Travelled up to just North of Bristol today to pick this beauty up. First time she's been outside for 20 years! The seller was a super nice guy and we met at his Dad's place where the car was stored to generally mess about with Tractors and look at loads of cool machinery like pre war commercials, a Series 1 Landrover, 50s Fords etc...
Got the 95 loaded up on the trailer and headed back South.
There is a tarp over the screen as it was only loosely placed in and we wanted to keep the inside of the car dry. As it happened the tarp blew off as soon as I hit motorway speeds so I stopped and put a ratchet strap round it.
The reason for the screen being out is that the bottom corners need a bit of work. Not too bad but the screen has leaked leading to the foot wells rotting. A quick inspection tells me other than this though this car is solid! The only previous welding is on one of the front inner wing leading edges and it's been done well. The second bit is where the sellers Dad has sorted one of the footwells and he's done a pretty good job by the looks of it.
Engine bay, something missing there... I'll be heading up in a few weeks for trip #3 (you'll see) to collect the engine and box plus the rest of the bits off the car. The engine has done 1000 miles ish since a complete rebuild and has been stored indoors.
And finally, in it's new temporary home at work. This will be home for a couple of months until the house move is organised and I have a new space for tinkering sorted. The wings are in the back with the front panel and are like new - literally! The car has been sprayed but well - what's the name of the colour?

| Great to see a future 95 project - will look forward to seeing the progress on this!
Used to have a 96 in that colour (can't remember what it's called though).

| Nice! Looks the same colour as my car, which I think is Toreador Red (although there has been some debate about this - see the link below). Paint code on mine is R2B. Oh, and I'm "yellowstripe" on the other forum.

| That looks in pretty good nick! Certainly less surface rust than on my 95 when I had it, although that too was solid underneath. I must get down to visit you guys in Plymouth - in fact I need some minor bodywork attention to my 9000 and was thinking about trying Chris Hamley in Yelverton. (I'm OK with nuts and bolts, but useless at painting!)
My car is Toreador Red, and looks a little darker than yours - the colour code for mine is R2. I know later red cars were a slightly lighter shade, so that could be the R2B that Tom mentions.
Best of luck with your new project!

| Another 95 re-surfacing...that's great. It looks solid enough and is in a great colour. Looking forward to watching this progress.

| It might be my screen, but that looks like Sienna Brown to me?

| Hi Guys,
Cheers for all the comments!
I reckon Sienna Brown then. The seller thought Sienna Brown but for some reason I thought that was the beige colour. It's definitely brown rather than red but often the computer screen looks a bit different to real life.
Tommy - I think yours is more red than mine, I like it though, looks nice and original.
Anyway, I will have a look at the paint code when I get a chance, been a bit busy today for that...
Pete, you are welcome anytime. I have never used Chris Hamley but I've had a look round his yard and lots of SAABs! Yelverton is only 15 minutes from us so let me know if you are heading over.

| Hi Saabers,
The Green car is now ready for it's MOT but I've been away and the MOT place is booked up so that will be next week. In the meantime I thought I would have a good look at one of the 95s starting with emptying out the inside and giving it a good hoover.
Both windscreen corners need work as expected but the A posts are like new.
Dashboard is really good but the glove box lid will need painting.
Been here before recently... The other side is done and pretty good.
Tiny bit here on the right.
Nice! Tiny bit needs doing at the bottom of each tower but easy.
I'm sure I'll find plenty more but limited to small spots here and there hopefully.

| Thanks John - hopefully it's as solid as it seems!
Woody - yes, Sienna Brown. The confusion was on my part as I used to have a beige 95 and remembered (incorrectly) that being Sienna Brown.

| Hi All,
With the green car now at a stage where I can use and enjoy it before the next phase of major work I have gotten started on the first of the 95s.
First up was wings and rear bumper off and a good poke around which has left me pretty happy. Minimal welding required and hardly any previous repairs.
Next up was to strip the remainder of the interior out.
First bit of welding will be the lower windscreen corners which are nowhere near as bad as on the green car then get the screen back in so it's water tight.

| Good work! I'd love to take my 95 apart but am enjoying using it too much - nice to see the parts I haven't reached! How's it looking under the petrol tank - it's the one bit of my car I haven't had a chance to check out?
Love the way these cars are put together. :)

| Looks very solid. What are the plans for this..restoration or custom? Keeping the colour?

| More of a recommission than a restoration. Paint is mostly very good as it was given a really good respray 20 years ago and has been in storage ever since.
Plans are completely standard but with some period accessories - much like Veronica!
Under the fuel tank has seen some paint but looks solid and hasn't had any repairs.
One question I have is that the pop in rear window seals are not great. I do have a spare set of fixed windows. Can these be substituted - are all four rear side windows the same shape?
