| Roger. Not really and engine part of course, but you wouldn't have any SAAB 96 Jacking points by any chance?. Reasonable 2nd hand condition. I know that you can get new ones from Malbrad, but at £44 each and about £15 for postage, it's a bit OTT for something that no ones sees, and is rarely used.

| I could, but I want to fit the jacking points to the new outer sill, in advance of fitting the sill to the car This allows me to paint/treat the inside, without it getting burnt off, welding jacking points on, post sill fit. I could cut the old ones of my car now, on that side, but they're in pretty poor shape. I just thought that if I could get my hands on a couple of reasonable condition jacking points now, it would be easier. If I can't find any by the end of the month, I may delete them. car's going in to have the new outer sill fitted on the 4th of February.

| I would weld them to the sill once that is fitted. Welding them on prior to fitting the sill will give you nothing but trouble. Just use a good weld through primer like Upol Weld #2 to coat the inside of the sill before you fit it.

| I've already got some Weld Thru primer. I must be missing something here but I'm not sure why welding jacking points on, prior to fitting the sill should give a lot of trouble.

| As far as I remember, only a part of the jacking point is (spot?) welded onto the sill, the other bit attaches to the floor (with a bead I think, it's been a while since I did this repair). Welding prior to fitting will very likely warp the sill, which means extra work when making it all fit. Depending on your method, they might also be in the way when you spot weld the outer "lip" of the sill (if you puddle weld from the outside, this is less of an issue). Lastly, it's much easier to define their exact position when the sill is in place.
Roger, sorry for the thread hijack!
