| Has anyone had difficulty in getting Saab Opal Green, code GN11 mixed.I just ordered 2.5l cellulose from a large paint supplier in Northern Ireland via eBay.They claim to mix any colour and have 100000 paint codes available to mix and first they said it was too difficult to mix. Then when I pointed out that there should be no difficulty in mixing a standard colour from a well known manufacturer, they came back and said the colour was "discontinued". |

| I recently got a small touch up pot of GN09 from a place in Romford - Car Colour Services. Pretty helpful guys, and they'll post paint to you. | |

The problem with trying to buy matched paint across the internet is that the colour shade your car is now, is not the same as the shade, when it left the factory. I tried the same with my B10H Laguna blue colour. It wasn't even close! What you need to do is go to a local auto paint shop with your car, and get them to match it exactly.
There's obviously no point in telling you about my local place in Fife, but they have done an absolutely perfect match, and given me paint in a tin, and an aerosol. They have a machine for doing the match, but the first time I was there it was away somewhere, and the guy did it by eye. about 10 iteration/mixes, till he got it right. Perfect match.
JOE, if you're interested, since I know your just across in Edinburgh, it's Fife Autopaint in Thornton. If you ever should be across in Fife for some reason, let me know, and I'll give you directions. How's your clutch by the way?
I saw that you were having braking problems....I didn't get involved since, by the time I saw your post, you'd had a lot of responses, and seemed to be getting lots of good advice.

| I agree with Andy, I tried to have an aerosol mixed for GN7 (which when my father had his paint shop was always a pig to match) The paint suppliers has a devil of a time mixing it and we tried adding this and adding that. In the end they used a Spectrophotometer and got a near perfect match
In short, don't go off the code, go off what's on the car.... | |
