| I am tired of the struggle to get the wheels on with this "daft" bolts system the 96 has, and would love to have a couple of short threaded bars that I could screw into two diametrically opposite bolts holes on the hubs, to aid putting the wheels on. I currently use a large phillips head screw driver that does help a bit, but two short 9/16" UNC pieces of threaded bar would work much better.
I never thought it would be hard to find 9/16"UNC threaded bar, but it is turning into a mission. Tried about 3 places now....
Anyone got any ideas?
Andy

| Andy I had the same problem and use a 4" x 9/16"UNC bolt with the head sawn off (and a slot cut in the top for a screwdriver, in case it sticks). One at the top of the drum is sufficient to hang a soccerball on. May be easier to get bolts than threaded bar ?
Have you tried https://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk/index.html ? Derek

| Deggsie Thanks, I had thought of that, but have really struggled to find anything in 9/16" UNC thread.
Westfield seem to be the same as others, they jump from 1/2" UNC, to 5/8"UNC.
Regards
Andy

| Paul. Thanks mate, I got a pair of 9/16" UNC bolts from an outfit call Margnor Fasteners Ltd. I'll cut the heads off, and they'll do the job nicely I hope.

They work a treat, wish I'd made a couple of these things up years ago!

| I have just located a supplier who has enough for 4 sets (2 each) 4" bolts, so, if anyone wants some, first 3 people in can have the ones I don't want. I'll cut the heads off and slot for a screwdriver. Cost will be what they cost me plus postage. | |

| I have made a small refinement, as well as screwdriver slot in the end, I have drilled across them for a "tommy" bar 6 mm. I guess tere could be a cut in the thread to make a truly multi tool and then you would have a thread cleaner too! Cost is £8 per pair posted 1st class. | Edited by - RhysN on 12 Apr 2019 16:56:13 | |
