I'm tentatively looking for a wooden Nardi/ Saab steering wheel with boss for my 96, preferably of this type (17", no visible rivets, light-ish wood, slotted spokes, matt-finish):

Condition not too important as long as it's serviceable. What have you got? Happy to swap for parts.

When you have found one Melle, I would like the next one to come to hand.

If the first one's too pricey for me you can have that one anyway. ;)

Looks like the one in above pic is a flat mahogany Moto Lita MK9 (or a look-alike), not sure if it's 15" or 16", I'll ask the owner. They're still for sale from Moto Lita, but I would prefer a used one; a new wheel would look completely out of place in my beat up car. If you have a separate boss or wheel available I'm also interested.

I went to the Kempink Saab Museum today and he has one of these for sale. I took a couple of photos...

Apparently he bought in Sweden recently, it has never been fitted to a car. It is however an eye watering €575.00

That looks great! Not cheap as expected, still hoping to find a used one and happy to do a deal with e.g. a 1.7 crank.

£575 ! I’ve got one on my Dennis my 2 stroke. I’d better get it in a safety deposit box.
Cheers

Melle I was told that SAAB steering columns are splined the same as Mini, might be worth searching for a Mini Mota-Lita and finding the SAAB horn button (they come up regularly on Tradera) - just a thought as it might be a cheaper route, not sure if you want fully SAAB authentic....

If so, I'd expect other BMC steering columns to have the same spline? I don't suppose Minis came with 15"/16" steering wheels, but my father in law has a Morris and I could try a wheel from his stock. Authenticity is the least of my worries fortunately, but I'm not too hopeful as all the bosses I've seen listed so far are specifically for Saab.

I've been thinking about one of these for the 96 too. What size is a standard steering wheel?
Did any SAABs (2 stroke Sport?) come with these as standard or perhaps they were in the S & R catalogue? I'll have a look and report back now I've had that thought...
Edit - No wood rimmed steering wheels in the 1972 catalogue (I guess not safe enough?) Loads of other cool stuff though!

Mini wheel didn't fit my column (not even close, way too small) - sorry for any misleading

There's one (or two) advertised on the Bay at the moment (for just over half what Anton's asking for the museum example), see https://ebay.us/wQEHZs - though these have visible rivets.
