thinking about to install an electric fan, I'm not sure where to place the thermo switch.

I started with the idea of install the metal T that switch the A/C on a 900. It is enough to change the switch for the correct one and plug the T in the top hose that goes to the radiator from the thermostat, it is simple and looks good. I think that the diameters are also correct.

On others cars the thermo switch are screwed in the top of the radiator, but if the thermostat fails the water would not flow enough to the radiator and maybe would not heat enough to activate the thermoswitch, would not be better to place it where the water is always hot?
Like in the hose that heats the automatic choke.

I'm not an expert and of course, if the engineeres put it in the radiator is for a good reason.

It's common to use that type of T adaptor with a thermal switch. If the 900 one fits your hose then fine but they are available in various bore sizes. The threaded boss also available in several sizes to fit the switch of your choice. I prefer an adjustable thermal switch so that you can change the temp setting to suit your car and the ambient temps if needed. An override switch is also useful.

In case it helps - the last time I fitted a Kenlow fan on a friends car it came with a sensor that just pushed into the radiator fins at the top of the radiator. This negated the need for plumbing alterations.

In my 96 I used a 900 T-piece in the top hose (Ø32mm) with a Febi 06031 sender (M22x1.5). I also fitted an override switch, but I've never used it. I've wired it so the pilot light comes on when the fan is on, no matter how it's switched on (thermo or override switch).

Thanks for your answers.
I see the instalation has always the sensor after the thermostat.
I've got a T from a 900 so, I'll buy that febi sensor to fit like on the 900. It is a clean solution and also allows to fit any kind of fan.
Maybe I start with the simpliest solution and add the permanent and adjustable switch afterwards if needed.

I don't have experience with the movement of the temp gauge. Where is the normal position?
In the middle like on the 900?
that corresponds with 90C degrees? (This gauge is the vertical type from a '79 year model.)

Is it dangerous if it goes up a bit?

The half way horizontal position is for normal, the 900 inherited that from its predecessors. It is not dangerous if the needle gets a bit higher, just as long as it doesn't come into the red section. But if the needle gets above normal under normal driving conditions constantly it is time to check things. First of all the electrics. A bad connection may cause a higher reading. I have that occasionally in the Sonett. The needle gets a tad beyond normal but when I tap once or twice on the glass of the gauge it returns to the normal position.

My Kenlowe came with a special wide rubber band, with a slot in it. This band was fitted to the top pipe of the radiator. The top hose was then fitted over this. It works very well.
