Simon, just realised - did you mean difference between left and right? I thought you meant open and closed deck... If you mean left and right then no difference.
Cheers

That's a relief!

I'm currently trying to find an image of some head gaskets in place (to check I've got them the right way round and also the inlet manifold gasket and where to install the copper plates - (under on top of the inlet gasket?) so if anyone has a photo/s of this, please share them!

The head gaskets should say front on them and the writing should be facing so you can read it when they are in place.
There is an article in technical on here that describes how to fit the copper plates. Easier for you to read it off there than for me to explain it!
Cheers

Even with the writing on them, I still managed to get them the wrong way round!

Even when I'd placed the inlet manifold gasket over them, lining up the locking tab. It wasn't until I placed the inlet manifold over it all and realised it didn't line up with the gasket!?!

I blame having a cold, combined with a hangover.

I am going to stop hijacking Gareth's thread and ask a question on my own one instead...

(thank you)

Had a project re-shuffle to make room for the camper to come home following winter barn storage.

That is three cars of which none currently work... And on picking up the camper I remembered a mental list of jobs that I failed to do before putting it away.

Too many projects? I'm off to pick up motorbike which has just run out of Mot...

Yep,
Probably the rustiest 911 known to man!
It is at the very bottom of the project queue.

Not entirely sure as it has no id or bulkhead…
Probably 1971.
Purists look away but the plan is to drop it onto a Beetle floor pan that I already have. I’ll end up with not really a 911 but it should be a fun project! It was cheap!

That's a good start 'cause they usually aren't. A good few years ago I didn't buy a cheap 912 that I really should have. Still regret is as they're way out of my league now and probably always will be.

Fuel tank repairs have got out of hand!

I knew there was a bit of grot in the boot and now seemed like the time to attack it. Fortunately this is the only grot on the car other than I think one of the flitch panels on one of the front inner wings.

And the main offenders

I'll put a wanted ad in case anyone can save me time with a boot floor cut for the first.

The second around the spring mount I have cut back and should be a straightforward repair from the inside.

All I was doing was trying to get the engine running right...

Cheers

Right, been chipping away at this one and boot floor now sorted.

Got the fuel tank back in last night, need to pick up a can of fuel today and try it out - hopefully the pick up pipe is'nt blocked up with POR15...

Cheers
