| Can or has anyone fitted and used mini brake shoes? They are readily available and much cheaper. Also where do you buy front brake pads from these days? Besides looking on Ebay. |

| From a very quick look, two of the usual suspects (Saabits, Malbrad) have them in stock.

| Ratty I have no idea about using Mini brakes parts. It's perfectly feasible I'm sure, things like brake parts are normally pretty generic,
I always buy from Malbrad.

| mister-auto.co.uk seems to have them, starting at 15,90 pounds. Two thicknesses are available: 10 & 17 mm. Nice day to all. | |

I was intrigued by this, so looked them up - only the standard thickness, but because the pads are tapered, they are 10mm at the top and 17mm at the bottom (and vice versa).

| Never had an issue getting them from motor factors (admittedly I last bought a set in 2013, in France).

| Ref. mini brake shoes what I really wanted to know is if the dimensions are the same as for the 96? They look the same but are they? has anyone fitted a set? At £10.00 to £15.00 a set they are good value for money. | |

| Be aware that the dimensions might be the same but the quality of the pad might vary. I 'll have a look at my old Mintex catalog. | |

Thanks for the precision. I found that weird, too. This makes sense now. | |

| I believe SAAB V4 shoes are - Diameter : 203,0 mm Width : 38,0 mm (Can't find Lining length)
From what I can find, classic Minis are - Diameter : 177,8 mm Width : 31,7 mm (Lining length: 171,4 mm)
So, at first glance, the Mini ones seem quite a bit smaller. However, it would still be good to know if anyone has actually tried them (or actively considered/discounted).

| Mister auto has the rear brake shoes set at 19,30 pounds. A Mini brake shoes set goes for 16,70 pounds. In my humble opinion, the price difference is not worth the hassle and, as the diameter is different the switch is impossible. | |

| Saab rear brake drums are 8", 20 cm diameter. MG and probably Mini drums too are 10" (25 cm), so shoes do not fit.
Rear wheel brake cylinders are same.
