Hi everyone. I have a 1972 V4, overall the car is in pretty good condition, but it needs a new exhaust. The car is in a normal state of tuning and I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on the best type/ make of exhaust to choose.

Thanks

Hi Paul, welcome. Very good question ! We are discussing on another page of this forum the fact that a SAAB driven above 60 MPH as resonance due to original exhaust. My advice, but I'm definately a beginner, would be to fit a Jetex exhaust. But I will let the professionals talk ;-)
Cheers.

I gave my original in good condition free to someone here in the hope they might reciprocate with help down the line. Forlorn hope.

Jetex on my 67 seems to work pretty good, running a 28/36 dcd twin Weber pulls nicely .

Hi all, many thanks for your replies. It sounds like Jetex is the route to go.

With a standard carb a standard exhaust will do just fine in my opinion. Easier to fit too.

Paul tap in Exhaust on the search button on this forum and you will find enough info to keep you busy probably for a week! from standard to rally spec. Easiest to fit and I think cheapest is standard exhaust. You will find you get a resonance at about 60 mph. They all do that. 55 mph is a good speed keep up a reasonable average, car should be fairly quiet and very economical. I get well over 40mpg on the level with standard Fomoco.
