| Hello,
Thought I'd have a break from electrics - or more importantly give the Forum a break from my electrical questions !!
Both front seats in the Saab are fitted and work correctly; as in slide back & forth, back rake adjusts and forward flip.
One thing I have noted is that both seats can be wiggled left and right slightly / notably in the runners. Looking underneath, each seat has 1x toothed mounted runner for securing / locking the seat in the required driving position. The other runner is not toothed and looking at the driver + pax seats this is the same with each.
It appears that the non-toothed runner is just a guide that allows the seats to slide back and forth on, whilst doing nothing to prevent the seats having lateral movement.
Other cars I have owned, normally have a pair of toothed runners which of course ensures rigidity without any lateral / wiggle movement.
Grateful if anyone can shed some light on this, please.
Thank you.

| Hi Richard,I came across this recently with an mot failure for an insecure drivers seat. The mountings give some adjustments laterally. I loosened the outer smooth rail and pushed it in to remove the play. Then tighten the mounting bolts on the outer rail. Did the job, I have spares so thought about trying a pair of toothed rails but it wasn’t necessary. | |

| Thanks for your reply Wonky door,
That is a good starting point and most useful.
When I looked at the underside mountings and tooth engagement system, it appeared that the seat mechanism has only 1x locking toothed runner. These being situated closest to the centre line of the vehicle, or in essence where a g/box tunnel would be if such existed.
It's odd why Saab didn't have 2x toothed mountings per seat ............. cost I presume.
Thanks again.
Regards.
