| Hello,
Now that my Saab project has started, I will be providing a few insights + photos and asking plenty of questions !!
I have just registered with Flickr, but I'm not sure of the process of transferring my photos from there to this Forum. No problem uploading my photos to Flickr
If someone can provide a step-by-step explanation, I will be most grateful.
Thank you in advance.

| Richard Once you have the photo in Flickr
-Choose the photo. - Bottom right below the photo there are various options. Click on the second from the left, an "arrow" function sort of pointing to the right. -Under "BBCode" there is a big long string of letters and numbers, beginning "urlhttps etc etc" Below that there is the option to set the picture size. -First set the picture size to "Medium 640 x480", otherwise your photo might drown your posting. -Then choose the big long code beginning "urlhttps etc etc", copy it, and then paste it into your post.
For example it will look like this:-
['url=https://flic.kr/p/2mDYR9Q][img]https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51625629876_b3051312f5_z.jpg[/img'][/url][url=https://flic.kr/p/2mDYR9Q]IMG_20211024_171916[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/149956822@N06/]Andrew Deans[/url], on Flickr'''
You only need the part between['img]https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51625629876_b3051312f5_z.jpg[/img']''' ie from [img to img] lower case.
The rest you can delete from your posting. -Preview to check it out, if it's OK, Post it! Simples!

| Thanks Andy - brilliant instructions.
I will give that a go and once mastered, I will open a new thread under projects.
All the best.

| I guess you can just start a Flickr account just for your resto album and link to that. You won't have to go through that rigmarole then. | |

| Dwrek Not familiar with the method of posting photos on the forum, that you refer to, how does that work exactly?

| Andy
My understanding of the rigmarole Derek is referencing is, if you don't have a flickr account (or something similar that hosts images and allows their url to be shared publicly) you have to host the images online somewhere yourself.
We have a folder for any images I post on our FTP, which then requires Cyberduck or Fetch or some other FTP management software to upload them. From there I have to repeat the steps you've already highlighted ([ img]ftp_address/image_name[ /img]) etc etc.
bit of a faff, but we're already paying for FTP space for the websites we develop/host and I don't have to worry about the "bait and switch" of the Photobuckets of this world

| It's a pity that the Forum does not have a bolt-on to allow photo upload which many do. Thankfully, as has been pointed out, there is at least a way of uploading the photos.
Regards.

| Hello Andy,
I think I have cracked the Flickr posting hurdle, with a link in Parts Wanted !!
Next goal is to try and get photos direct on to the thread.
Thanks again for your help.
Regards.
Richard.
