Hello,

Can / should the elephant ears be able to be removed with the rear screen rubber in situ ?? Or is it a better option to remove the screen and rubber first ??

Just checking before pushing on.

Many thanks.

Richard.

I removed them years ago without removing the rear window, but I did take out the weather strip so that it was easier to push back the rubber and reach the screws.

I just eased the rubber back to reveal the hidden screw. It wasn't rusty and came out easily. It is small.

The screws come out easy if and a big if there not rusted in or even worse the ear is rotted where the screws are , this can sometimes be the case .

Both of my screws were chrome plated and rust free but it was a '76. The reason I took one off was to take it to the paint supplier to get a colour match. Gave it a cut and polish first. Sienna Brown. I got a good match.

Thanks Derek, located the 2x screws under the window seal and they came out without issue; RH elephant ear now removed. My 96 is a 76 model and looks as if chrome screws were used on this car.

Regards.

Richard.
