Started Lands End Trial on Friday night everything working well. Got to the third hill Sutcombe and gearbox decided to jam itself in 4th gear! Couldn't shift it so was AA job home. Of all the things that could go wrong with a gr/box I wasn't expecting this one. Anyone else ever had this problem? The operating shaft is free, shifter yoke and it's roll pin are in tact so I presume it must be a poppet ball and or spring that has jammed or come adrift. Its engine, gr/box out yet again and I will let you know. These gr/boxes have there problems but the gear selection mechanism is pretty substantial in that department. The whole box and diff. was totally rebuilt less than six months ago.
Shame about the gearbox. I have a short article about the Exeter Trial in a VW magazine. I'll bring it along to Swedish Day for you - hopefully you'll be there?
