You shouldn't have removed the protective coating in the first place!

| By 'protective coating' I assume you mean the layers of oil, grime and rust? :)
True, but I couldn't put it back in a nice clean engine bay looking like that could I!? | Edited by - UK_Sub on 30 Jan 2022 21:27:23

| All looking rather nice
I really have spent far too much of my life cleaning bits, when I should have just taken them to be blasted ! My time is free but, life would have been so much easier.

| When will I learn to take photos when taking something apart!? Probably never.
I did manage to keep the inlet manifold bolts safe though, problem is - they are 3 different lengths!?
An idea which bolt goes where?

| Longest pair go in the centre of the manifold. Test fit the other two but IIRC the longer may be for front, shorter for rear. I assume the two studs are already in place. | Edited by - Woody on 21 Mar 2022 20:17:37 | |

| Excellent, thank you Woody.
Yes, the studs are in place - I left them in place.
Before I bolt the inlet manifold down, do I need to use any sealant?
The gasket looked like this - with these blue rubberised(?) type edges...
(The copper shims from the previous gasket are in place)

| Well it's back where it belongs...
Just need to plumb it all back in and try to remember where all the (over complicated) pipes, connections and wires go!
A big thank you to everyone for their help with my dumb questions, can't promise there won't be a few more... | Edited by - UK_Sub on 28 Mar 2022 14:39:44

| Looks great, well done! Is that a crackle finish on the rocker covers? If I get my act together maybe we can get a photo next to my 95 at Swedish Day. | |

| It is a crackle finish, sprayed in a cold garage, so not the best finish - but OK.
I'm aiming to get it done for Swedish Day - just depends on how well it all goes back together and if I can find all the bits!

| Don't forget the brace bar for the alternator bracket back to the cylinder head. | |

| Very nice Simon, I love a clean engine bay. Looking forward to seeing it at Swedish Day in its new guise.

| Crackle looks great. Until it gets oily/dirty, then it looks scruffy. | |

| Small update on the pickup - splashed out on a new set of silicone hoses and fitted them to the car, along with my refurbished (just sprayed it black) radiator - all looked good, was feeling quietly confident about filling it with water until it started to pour out of the 2 lower bolt holes!?
That was the last place I was expecting, seems I over-tightened the radiotr and put 2 very neat holes in the radiator. I do have a spare (it's narrower in depth, not sure why) in the loft, but no telling what it's like under pressure (probably a bit like a sieve).
Thankfully there is a classic car radiator guy not far away, so dropping them off to fixed/tested.
