| At the local Classic Car Breakfast meet yesterday, I was told that the "metal can" clutch master cylinder is identical to the Mini clutch master cylinder, right down to the length of the actuating shaft

| Apart from a small difference in length of the arm that the cable connects to, yes, they are the same. See photos on this post on the UKSAABS site.
