| Hi All, A couple of gearbox questions if I may.
I am putting together the best box I can from a selection of parts. I have some new output seals (thanks John), does anyone know how far I should push these in? Currently they are sitting flush. Looking at the shaft I can't see that it is critical but would appreciate any comments.
Second question. I have a new clutch actuator arm fitted and a new thrust bearing. I think there should be a clip to help hold it in place, can anyone confirm what it should look like because I have seen a couple of differnt types.
Thanks all and enjoy the bank holiday. |

| Flush is fine...make sure the output shaft is smooth and corrosion free...nothing destroys a seal quicker than rust. There should be 2 spring clips to hold the thrust bearing in place..one is "R" shaped and the other is "C" shaped with a loop at the top....if I get a chance I will send pics later today.

| Thanks John and Chris. I have polished the output shafts up as best I can but they are not perfectly smooth. Is there a known way to restore the shaft surface? Some Sort of plating and polishing process?
For the thrust bearing I'm going to need both of those clips. Does anybody have some they would part with (paid for of course) or know where I can get them. Cheers, Steve. | |

| Steve, I'll bring you a pair of clips from NL if you can wait a bit. I'm around the corner from you the 27th and I still need to return your gearbox back cover as well!
SKF Speedi Sleeves work brilliantly for restoring worn shafts.

| Hi Melle, Thanks for the offer of the clips, I'll gratefully accept. Let me know when you are back in the area and we can meet up. In the meantime my clutch hydraulics have failed so I am in the process of fixing that (thanks to John again for the parts) before I am back on the road. | |

| Melle, Thanks for the tip on the Speedi Sleeves, I am going to go that route.
Chris, A good picture thanks. Melle has dropped the parts into me today (thanks Melle), so I will have a go at fitting later.
Cheers. | |
