How many people use Photobucket to link photos?
Do you pay for the service?
Photobucket have changed their terms so anyone with the free service is now asked/ransomed to pay $400 a year for a plus 500 account to continue their 3rd party hosting of pictures. If you don't pay your links are disabled and every photos previously hosted will disappear.
What alternatives are there?

Never used photobucket, always been on Flickr since it started, with no issues. (www.flickr.com)

Mind you, once one company is seen to be getting away with this, how long before others follow?

Grrr!

All my photos on this forum and UKSaabs got blocked so I had no alternative but to take them off Photobucket and close my account. Still getting emails demanding $400 for hosting in spite of no longer having any photos with them. Like has been discussed on UKSaabs I would have been happy to pay a nominal charge for the service but not $400/year!! Haven't decided what to do next as how long will it be before Flickr follow PB as Pete says?!!
It is a great loss of information though so we will have to find a way of re-instating the images.

Hi All,
Apologies for not much SAABing since Swedish day, I have been distracted by something big, yellow, rear engined and with a very short MOT...
I just logged on to Photobucket and it looks like they want $34.99 a year. Not a ridiculous amount but not free either...
I could be persuaded to pay this but I am worried others are being asked for $400...
Is there an easy way to copy photos from Photobucket in bulk?
Cheers
Gareth

Hi Gareth, Fairly sure there's a 'download all' button - depends if you have multiple folders. I never bothered to file mine, but have over 70 pages of images on there. I've downloaded them for now, but not sure whether to put them elsewhere.

I am also in the Photobucket stranglehold. The diference between the various ransoms they ask is that only with the $400 option you have the possibility to show your pictures on other sites. Time to move on.

Hi Guys,
Simon - thanks, sorry for the slow reply. I found the download all button but it doesn't seem to work, I have tried it at home and at work both with good broadband. It comes up with a simple error message, I suspect they don't want it to work!
Anyway, I have backed up most photos off there one by one. Sounds painstaking but I only have a few hundred and it's actually quite a fast process.
I think I'll continue to link to PB for existing projects as it works for now, might even be a 95 shaped update soon...
Cheers

Mine seems to be working for now. I did pay a bit extra a few years ago, to remove adverts, so maybe that's why?

If I add images via the upload button, it asks me to clarify my email address, but if I use the 'Editor' link, I can upload images without having to do this.

Maybe PB don't mind you uploading pictures but it's using them again on the forums etc that's the problem. I've only ever used it to enable me to use the Img facility for here and elsewhere. As far as I know that no longer works, so I won't be adding any more. They were all downsized versions anyway and were copied to PB so I still have them all.

Interesting, because you must have uploaded them to PB since they started to put the mockers on the system.............

I've just tried to upload a pic which worked OK and then posted it to the Volvo forum. Just got the PB block logo so it's a fail for me.

I'm using imgBB with some success.
Heres the reason I will be quiet on this forum for a little while.
