| Having removed them for a respray over a year ago I remembered the small screw from inside and the large screw on the outside. Having slackened off the large screw I can place the barrel section only part way in. Any tips appreciated |

| I don't suppose you have a photo of what it looks like?
You might find that you have to turn the barrel to the locked position, so that the tab isn't fowling the door mechanism.
Let us know how you get on...

| Send them to simon_designs at hotmail.com
Have you tried locking the door handle first, to see if that works?

| JMat99 It is a bit of a fiddle. As you've said, the large screw on the edge of the door should be slack in the fixing plate on the inside of the door. Turn the key in the lock so that the paddle on the end of the barrel is either facing up to 12 o'clock. (or maybe down to 6, can't exactly remember) Normally you can then get the handle assembly into the door with a bit of fiddling and wriggling. I've done it several times in recent times, because I have a problem with the paddle coming loose on the barrel shaft, due to the circlip coming slack.
Don't forget the plastic facings for the back of the door handle. It helps to prevent cracking of the paint, on the door, around the handle. If you've lost them, there is someone on E bay selling them. Here is the link.

| Many thanks for the responses posted by Simon and Andy. Simon requested some photos which I was taking as Andy's post arrived. I shall still send them to him for completeness. I cannot believe I didn't think of what you both advised about the key position. Must be my age!! Thanks to Andy also for providing a link to the guy selling plastic facings on e bay - they were long gone when I acquired the project car in August 2016 so need replacing.

| Andy I'm still struggling with re-fitting the handles!
One is on and secure but the key seems to have no effect on locking/unlocking the door. The other handle lock barrel does not go fully "home" (the doors are off the vehicle at present)
Do you have an e mail address for me to send some photos to you?

I just removed and refitted mine yesterday, because I finally got a new lock/barrel assembly for the drivers door. I'v done it many times now, so am getting quite adept at it!
E mail me on andydeans3, then Gmail. Send me some photos.
Andy
