With the decent paint job on Sigfrid I decided to search out replacement piping. While what I have found is not identical to what I had (o.3 mm different in width) I figured it's close enough.
Baines Rubber part PWP 4.75X25 wing piping. Enough to do the whole car is just over £10

I tried some beetle ones in red, they are now a very pale pink. Not from VW but a Specialist on E bay. :( My own fault.
Cheers

Why would I try any others when this company has a huge reputation for UK products? Just asking?

Best to get samples from all of the suppliers that you can find. Baines are good but I think a shadow of their former selves. They have a huge catalogue but much of the stuff illustrated is NLA. When they run out of old stock they mostly don't renew it unless it is very popular. For them, minimum orders can be a 1000m. That might take forever to sell. I think that some other UK suppliers get their stock from them. They acted as a sort of wholesaler. If you are not a member of the Swedish Saab club there maybe someone here that can order it from them on your behalf. That should get you the proper stuff.

Well, I have got my supply, I can't tell the difference apart from the ribbing. I can't answer for their reputation, I do know that Baines supply Jaguar classic, where my son was running the D type and XKSS programmes as 2ic and I reckon that's a good enough rep for me.
Of course there will be people who want to be totally genuine, and in some cases pay over the odds for that. for me, as Melle has reminded me, it's my car.
I thought I was being helpful for those of a like mind, maybe I was just wrong to try.

There was no way I was trying to dis Baine's reputation. I said they were good. I've bought from them a couple of times, not recently, and have been happy. Being close to them I have visited and their front counter was nicely old school. Last time I was there the owner of an older MG (TC?) was after the seal that went across the top of the screen. The counter guy went upstairs and came back with a couple of dusty odd lengths for him to look at. He picked one of them and it was given to him, no charge. Not worth making out a receipt he said. After that I talked to them about the availability of sections, relative to the catalogue. I had a printed one, but it's now online. He said that it would cost too much to edit and reprint the catalogue and as stocks ran down and came to an end many of the trims wouldn't be economical to restock unless a club was willing to put some money up front to help with costs. Bottom line, try them for whatever you need and buy from them if possible. Keep them in business.

You would lose the bet if you were referring to me as I could only supply it in pink.
Cheers
