| Hi, both main and slave cylinders have 7/16” x 20 UNF thread. I used brass brake connections with two pieces of diam.6,35 mm CuNi pipe and 40 cm long petrol Stahlflex hose (see photo), works well. Don’t forget, there must be flexible connection because of motor vibrations.

| Quick update, I was lazy, took a gamble on ebay and bingo. Triumph stag clutch pipe is same size same thread and fits perfect, plus only cost me £3 for one in great shape. It's one of those orange/red ones. | |

| Hi All, Just adding to this old thread because I've just replaced the clutch pipe on my car and the threads were different each end. The master cylinder thread was 7/16" UNF with 20 tpi but in my case, the slave cylinder was 3/8" UNF which has 24tpi. This may vary from one car to another or one year to another but just wanted to add to the knowledge here. As an aside - I ordered a new clutch hose with 7/16" UNF both ends and there was enough metal on the slave cylinder to open out the hole and retap it to the large 7/16" thread. All good. | |

I agree with you Steve. I just looked in my Sonett Service Manual and the master is listed as 3/8"-24 and the slave listed as 7/16"-20.

| 7/16 thread came with the introduction of the Lockheed master cylinder. At that time girling sold slavecylinders with both 3/8 and 7/16 but later only the 7/16 cylinders were available. At some point they used an adaptor to help part supply for both threads. The 3speed slave has always been 3/8 | |

| Thanks all this is good information. In conclusion then, all we can be sure is that the thread will be either 7/16 or 3/8 UNF. The only way to be certain is to take it apart and measure it I think.
I've finished my refit with a braided flexi from master to slave rather than the original system, just for simplicity. I ordered a 650mm long flexi with 90° unions each end. Cost £25. Looks like this.

| That looks like a great solution Steve. Could you advise the source of the hose you used. | |

| Hi Rhys, Sure thing. I ordered it from. http://www.brake-lines.co.uk/create-your-custom-brake-hose.html I ordered a 650mm length but I reckon it could be a bit shorter if you wanted (if you use the 90 degree ends as well). Looking at the page again I notice they do both the 7/16" and 3/8" UNF fittings if you can be sure what you need. | |
