Friend of mine has just had the clutch plate for his 96 re-lined by a local company. The overall thickness is now 9.5 mm.
Spec in the manual says 8.4 +/- 0.1 mm, so it's 1 mm too thick.
What does the collective think? Will this cause a lot of clutch drag?
Will it perhaps wear off in a reasonable time?
Should we be looking to skim some material off the clutch plate material? If so, how?
Any thoughts appreciated.

No Derek, without going into too much detail, the company are not at fault here.
My mate and I would just like to know what to do now with a clutch plate that's 1 mm too thick.
Grind it down to 8.4 mm, or something else?

If the company knew the spec then they should re line it free of charge. If the rivets are too thick then skimming would leave less usable friction material. Bottom line is that they have made a balls up. | | andydeans3 | Posted - 03 Jun 2021 : 18:37:46
