Hello,

I've been a club member of Svenska Saabklubben for a couple of years now. However, with next year's subscription looming I wonder what the value is of remaining a member of their club.

Other than a thank you email, you get nothing for actually joining not even a club sticker etc.

I'd be interested in their club magazine, but of course in Swedish of which I have no knowledge.

IIRC, SAABits has an overlap with the club purely for ordering on UK member's behalf as Svenska Saabklubben do not deal directly since Brexit.

As much as I like supporting classic clubs, one has to be pragmatic about the real value.

Are there any other Forum users on here that belong to the club ?? Andy D - am I right in thinking you are or were a club member.

Regards.

Richard.

Hello Andy.

Thanks for the update and that's great news. My membership is still current albeit I've not used them for anything major - yet !!

All the best.

Richard.

Richard.
Saab Klubben membership recently paid dividends. I needed 2 front springs, neither Malbrad or Saabits had any. Steve Broadhead at Malbrad told me that he wouldn't be able to get any for months.

I got a pair from the Saab Klubben, using Steve Lewis as a middleman. Bill Jones at Saabits is not doing it any more.

Membership Renewed.

I was a bit confused when Steve Lewis's name was mentioned in connection with SaaBits - I thought it was just Bill running the show.

Thanks.

Richard.

Bill at Saabits perhaps?

I have just purchased , through Steve at Saabits, 3 sets of the rally sump guard brackets from the Swedish club shop. I would highly recommend Steve. I think he puts in an order with the Swedish club every couple of weeks so as long as the club has the parts in stock then you are not waiting very long for them.

Thanks Woody, that will be great.

A multiple item order makes sense. A friend has just received items from SSK via Saabits.
I shall ask about the procedure.

Thanks Andy, I thought that was the case.

Many thanks for the inputs, all of which make sense.

I've not spoken with Bill yet, but I'm guessing being a member of SOC and SEC will not cut it where an order is concerned.

As you say Andy, it's only £30 and if that club is helping to keep SAAB's on the road then that has to be a viable investment as far as an owner is concerned.

Regards.

Richard.

You have to be a member to buy parts from them.

I've just E mailed you. I though we could perhaps consolidate a shipment from the Saab Klubben, to split the high DHL shipping costs.

I've noticed they're cheaper too - even with import duties etc.

I think Bill needs a membership no. to order parts (so I've recently joined) as I need a fair few 2-stroke bits and bobs!

One other thing. I bought a pair of new rear hubs from them a while back. They were, even including the postage, quite literally 200 quid cheaper than buying them from Saab parts guys in the UK.

Never been a member, or acquired parts from them. I occasionally view the website for parts.
There are some parts I am interested in and would check with Bill or Steve Lewis at Saabits for costs.

I've been a member for years, and have bought parts over the years. In the early days they used to send the magazine, but, as you say, it's not a lot of use, if you don't have Swedish. Later, they gave a cheaper annual rate to foreigners, without the magazine.

I have used the forum, when I was trying to get info about the 1st Swedish owner of my blue Saab. The forum also pointed me to where I could get Swedish government documents about my car.
Since the deluded Brexit decision of course, as you say, we can't buy directly from the Saab Klubben, and go through Bill at Saabits.
It's only about 25 quid a year, so I stick with it. It just, sort of, seems like the right thing to do.
