Hello to the Forum, my first post here. I joined the Saab Enthusiasts Club yesterday!
I have a 1975 Saab 96 V4, silver anniversary edition. I have been doing a "rolling refresh" since I bought it last June. (I kid myself that a "rolling refresh" isn't going to cost as much as a "restoration"!) I took the engine out over the winter, primarily to change the core plugs, but didn't realise when I put it back in that the angle of the engine, as determined by the engine steady bar, was critical for maintaining the gearchange. I adjusted the engine steady bar and have managed to get the gearchange to work OK a month or so ago but recently I have found that 3rd to 4th is difficult until the engine and gearbox warm up a bit. Is this possibly more that just an adjustment issue? I am new to Saabs and haven't driven another 96 to know if my gerabox is OK. Any advice would be welcome.

Welcome to the forum! It could be a clutch issue, so check its adjustment, or you may need to adjust the steering column. The workshop manual makes it sound like a really complicated job, I hope the simplified instructions on my website make more sense: http://www.saabv4.com/index.php/project/gear-shift/ The complete factory workshop manual can be downloaded from my website too if required: http://www.saabv4.com/index.php/saab-factory-manuals/saab-v4-factory-workshop-manual-english/

Welcome Bob, For tec stuff Melle's your man. My antivirus won't let me sign into Melle's great site for some reason but you can do a search of topics on this site ( I wrote 'Column adjustment' ) and Melle's page on the subject is on there. Just go scroll down to 'Kizmax' go to page 3 then scroll down to 'Derek' - Job done

All public information on my website should be available without signing in. Sign-in is only required for the back-end, and no one but me should be able to access that.

You are right of course Melle. I meant to say 'connect to'. It states 'Dangerous site' and when I try to overwrite it a message keeps repeating stating that this site is dangerous and won't let me continue. I have no doubt that it is not the website which is the problem but my anti virus playing stroppy doppies.

I think the issue is that I still haven't upgraded the site security protocol from http to https. If I'm honest I have know idea what either of them is or does, other than the latter being way more expensive.
