| Hi,
As a few of you know I am currently living abroad (Spain) and I have enjoyed keeping an eye on the forum to see how everyone is getting on with their Saabs.
I called in at my workshop at home over the summer and was pleased to find everything dry and no more rusty than when I left it all the previous summer - we are renting out our house in Plymouth the workshop is separate and I have been able to keep this for storage.
Whilst in Plymouth I took the kids to a local WW2 and classic car show in Yelverton and stumbled across this:

Unfortunately couldn't find the owner for a chat but did get a demo of the super smooth RR engine parked next to it.
Back in Spain as a birthday treat I got to drag the family to an exhibition in Madrid celebrating (I think!) 90 years of the government vehicle department with an exhibition of the training centre for apprentices and a selection of government vehicles.

Not much info on the exhibition as it has finished but the short films give a little insight into the facility.
My main reason for wanting to attend was to have a look at this:

Look at those wheels! You can see my youngest there enthused by the need to capture the stamped number on the rim!

Interesting mix of trim with early 70s bumpers and what I am guessing is a late 70s boot handle? Also a very jolly fabric used for the interior.

Unfortunately didn't get a look under the bonnet.
Cheers

| Cool cars! Does the date stamp on the rim say 14 66, 14 86, or 14 06? Looks like the latter in the pic.

| Cool Architecture Gareth.Sounds a bit like the ethos of lever Bros and Cadbury back in the day.
Your boys have grown a bit!

| Melle - I have sent you a link to the original photo of the wheels, I'm pretty sure it is 14 06.
So, do you think rims manufactured 14 06 retro fitted to original oval slot centres?

| Yes, that's what I think. I googled the part number, but I couldn't find anything. You may remember I was doing the same with barrels from 99 wheels. I tacked one wheel a couple of years ago, but then got distracted by other stuff. I had a set of standard width wheels refurbished because I didn't have time to finish the wider wheels this summer, and the 96 badly needed new tyres (and so did the 900). One day though!

| Hi Melle,
Yes, I absolutely remember you doing this and I would like to do something similar as the barrels on my RAC wheels are pretty banged up.
I had the thought of buying new barrels and I'm sure I have seen them for sale - just did a google search and came up with your RR thread...
I thought of this company as a good friend of mine has just bought a Mercedes Vario (I want one too) and is going full offroad with 19.5" wheels from here:

I'm sure there is another thread (probably yours!) on here for this stuff.
Your 96 looks good with a bit of dish!

| I have the firm opinion that both orange cars should feature in Jacks Number 27 YouTube channel.
