| Some advice chaps. I recently noticed a click click, clicking from the front left wheel. Clearly in time with speed of the wheels turning. Much worse on full lock. Since I had two brand new CV joints, bought from the Swedish Owners Club, on the shelf, I changed the CV joint on that side, for a shiny new one. New grease, new boot etc. The noise on full lock has now gone, but I still have this faint clicking noise when driving straight ahead. You only really hear it when free wheeling, once the engine noise fades away.
Any ideas? Wheel bearing perhaps?
That was only changed in late 2024, though the bearing on this side, did not require to be pushed in, it just dropped in, so I used some loctite 641. The story is here:- https://saab-v4.co.uk/speedball/topic.asp?topic_id=51815&whichpage=1&SearchTerms=wheel,bearing
Could this have something to do with it?

Woody I don't think there was anything wrong with the needles at the gearbox end of the drive shaft. I checked that they were all present. The drive shaft coupling at the gearbox end, once the drive shaft is out, this can just be pulled out, correct?

| | The drive shaft coupling in the transmission has a split ring which retains it inside the planet gear. To remove use a long bar or piece of wood placed at rear side of coupling and give it a clout. Drain oil in transmission first. |  |

| Just cracked it. Though I used a "proper" CV boot clamp, I left an excessive tail, which was shiny, cos it was coming into contact with its surroundings.... Silly me.... Just glad it was something simple! I really didn't want to have to strip the drive shaft out again.....

No I didn't, the noise is still there.....Grrrr
